Located: The Central Coast is a compact coastal strip stretching from the Hawkesbury River in the south and extending to the southern edge of Newcastle's urban sprawl. The Hunter Valley is a naturally defined catchment of the Hunter River extending from Barrington Tops in the Great Dividing Range to Newcastle where it meets the ocean. It is a major wine producing region. Principal Towns: Gosford, Terrigal, Newcastle, Raymond Terrace, Nelson Bay, Cessnock, Pokolbin, Maitland, Singleton, Muswellbrook, Scone, Dungog. Principal Produce: dairy products, olives, avocados, snails, beef, oysters, fish and seafood, oysters, fruit and vegetables, wine grapes.
