Hawkesbury Harvest is a community based organisation, established in March 2000 and committed to improving the economic viability and sustainability of local agriculture. The organisers felt, under the healthy cities’ programs, that the community needed an opportunity to eat more healthily, and this aim combined well with a need to ensure local farmers received more value for their work.

In response to this, Hawkesbury Harvest created the first Farm Gate Trail Map in NSW and also established a Farmers’ and Fine Food Market at Castle Hill. Hawkesbury Harvest attends and promotes special food events throughout Sydney and in 2008 will introduce a provedore service and a second market at Rouse Hill.

OPENING HOURS: Most Farm Gates on the Farm Gate Trail operate in season, some one day a week, some a few days a week, and some every day. This is clearly marked on the brochure, although it is wise to telephone first to make sure.
