Pine End Organic Farm & Bed and Breakfast |
|
“We are passionate about the organic industry and its philosophies on environmental issues, as well as animal and farmer welfare,” say Shaun and Margarita Carrick. “We believe food should be grown locally and eaten seasonally.”
What better reasons than these for beginning their NASAA-certified organic farm just over seven years ago which is now the only certified organic produce farm in the Macarthur (South-west Sydney) area.
Now, it is a tribute to a clear vision and much hard work and specialises in seasonal vegetables, herbs, fruits, nuts and eggs grown in chemical-free soils without the use of artificial fertilisers or herbicides, as well as cheese, butter, yoghurt, ice cream and breads produced on site. Fruits grown on the farm include pepinos, tamarillos, olives, guavas, loquats, avocados, macadamias, sapote, passionfruit, citrus and berries.
Pine End Organic Farm is an eco-tourism destination providing Bed and Breakfast accommodation. The Carricks are enthusiastic ambassadors for the organic industry, the Australian way of life and the International Slow Food Movement.
The farm’s products are sold locally at the farm gate, in local household deliveries and retail organic outlets such as The Organic Whole Food Store, Station Street, Bowral.
Open: 8am to 5pm daily (but phone first to ensure someone is available).
