Here’s another gutsy entrepreneurial single mum making a major life change after forty. At the end of 2006 Victoria left a life as business owner in Brisbane, where she was sick of traffic and the city rat race, after fate led her to a quaint country Aussie hotel off the Cunningham Highway between Warwick and Brisbane.
Victoria had assisted her parents in a hotel/motel business in Tenterfield in her 20s and loved that life, so when she chanced upon the historic Maryvale Hotel on a day ride on her Kawasaki VN 800, and heard that the management lease was available, she grabbed the chance. "It just felt right!" she said. Now eight months later, she has purchased the hotel! A verandah on two sides of the Hotel with great views of the surrounding mountains and outdoor beer garden.
