“These chocolates may look like any fine European chocolate from the outside, but one bite and you are into Australian flavours you may never have encountered before. Mayfield Chocolates have been making these delicious variations on a theme now for several years and tuck things like Kakadu plum, native peppermint, aniseed myrtle, wattle and lemon myrtle into their fillings. Favourites are Bushranger’s Dream with Queensland rum and sultana ganache, and Riverina Dreaming with South Australian brandy and Apricot. The result is tastebud-blowing. One of the crowning achievements was the winning of a Gold Medal in Belgium in 1999. Apart from these ‘wild flavours of Australia’, other fine Queensland products such as coffee, rum, ginger, macadamias and pineapple pop up regularly in various guises.
