Wanting to set up in business for themselves, Tony Phelps and Rochelle O’Mara hit on a great plan in 2007. Matching their collective enjoyment of fine food with the excellent produce available in Southwest Victoria, they decided to address the fractured nature of getting hold of it and came up with the idea of the "one-stop-shop" for the best of the region's produce. Rochelle is well qualified here. Her family have been in Winchelsea for many years and she has a broad understanding of the local region and its produce. Taste of the Region's "Winchelsea Larder" is both cafe and retail outlet - light lunches with optional regional Wines of the Day, gourmet sandwiches & wraps, organic fairtrade coffee, leaf teas and cakes & sweets. The menu features local produce: Otway Pork ham, Apostle Whey and Meredith Dairy cheeses, Timboon ice-cream and other delectables that can't be offered online. Takeaway and eco-friendly picnics (bio-degradable plates, cutlery and wrapping).
