February’s green season rain in Northern Queensland has a very specific upside

80036-SEAFOOD-SMALLLocal knowledge is a great thing. According to Airlie Beach restaurant identity Kevin Collins from Fish D’Vine, it's the time for food-lovers to visit. The iconic local fish café, which outpolled Doyle’s in the Lifestyle Channel’s “I Love Food Awards” and was a finalist in the Queensland Tourism Awards, prides itself on true fresh local seafood and right now it's Barramundi time.

“For nine months of the year we get daily deliveries of whole, locally caught Barramundi and we fillet in house,” said Kevin. “The closed season runs from November, so on February 1st and with a good dump of rain, it means it’s Barra Time in the Whitsundays!”
