Enjoy a day of lakeside cooking classes at this must-do event.
Each quarter at the multi-awarded Lake House, Executive Chef Alla Wolf-Tasker invites some of Australia’s best and most interesting chefs for a demonstration and celebration of the seasons, provenance and above all their craft. This Spring she welcomes Andrew McConnell, chef and co-owner of Melbourne’s ‘two hatted’ Cutler & Co as well as Cumulus Inc. Andrew’s passion for exceptional, often unusual, seasonal produce is obvious both in his award winning menus and also his demonstrations. Much banter between Alla and Andrew can be expected on the best source of heirlooms and organics in the region. The Spring Masterclass, on Sunday 12th September, also includes an introduction to Young Chef of the Year winner Nicholas Poelaert of Embrasse. Undeniably French but also playing with an innovative combination of unusual spices, herbs, rare and heirloom plants – Nicholas is one of the finest emerging chefs in Australia. His class will leave you inspired and keen to take a few risks of your own. Hosted by Alla and with a workshop with some of the region’s best organic farmers – Florian Hofinger and Brendan Eisner of Daylesford Organics – this is a day not to be missed.
