Jill Richardson, founder and owner of A Taste of the Bush, has had over 40 years experience in the food industry, including seven years at her shop in Avoca Beach. An interest in Australian native foods led to setting up the present company which has now been operating for ten years.

“The lovely flavours and the fact that they are native to Australia was the deciding factor in creating our business using these raw ingredients,” she says. “We chose to direct our  products towards traditional food markets rather than bush tucker as we feel very strongly that they should be a part of everyone’s staple diet.”

Jill’s cookery book has over 180 recipes using indigenous foods in such traditional foods as casseroles, puddings, cakes and cocktails.

A Taste of the Bush produces a range of unique macadamia oils, caramelised vinegars, fruits and dukkah flavoured with Australian native flavours. The company also carries a range of Australian native herbs and spices and a cookery book.

A Taste of the Bush also carries a range of indigenous herbs and spices and its own blends as well as the cookery book Rainforest to Table. All of the products are made on the premises in Berkeley Vale where we cooking classes, demonstrations and tastings are also available.

Products are made using herbs, spices, berries, leaves and fruits and are free of additives. All products are gluten free.

The products are sold on the premises at 1 Enterprise Drive, Berkeley Vale, NSW, as well as at The Rocks Market, Castle Hill Farmers’ Market, Avoca Beach Farmers’ Market, The Entrance Farmers’ Market and Randwick Market at Prince of Wales Hospital.

Also at The Essential Ingredient at Rozelle, Wild Basket at Neutral Bay, various wineries, The Australian National Museum in Canberra, etc.

There is an online shop and products are shipped to various countries around the world, with statewide delivery and mail order available.

Open to the public: normally Tues, Wed, Thurs 9am-1pm, however they suggest you call first on 0422 101 170 to check or arrange an appointment. Interested customers may visit for tastings and demonstrations.

Bus groups of up to 24 people (bookings recommended) are welcome. Morning or afternoon tea/coffee with lemon myrtle scones, jam and cream will be served before a demonstration of several quick and easy ways of using Australian native foods. Clients are then invited to sample some of the many oils, dukkahs and vinegars available.

Directions: If approaching from the F3, take the Wyong/Tuggerah exit onto Wyong Road. Continue on Wyong Rd. crossing six roundabouts. At the seventh roundabout, turn right onto Enterprise Drive. About 100 metres on the left, turn into the driveway and A Taste of the Bush is straight ahead on the ground level
