Local knowledge is a wonderful thing. Jill Dyson and Nick Padol have been involved in showcasing and supporting local producers in their region for a number of years through various events and activities.

Research carried out in the region and cities nearby have revealed that visitors to the Southern Highlands are looking for a genuine rural culinary experience where they can sample and taste fresh local produce in season with the opportunity to purchase it as well.

Nick_and_Jill.jpgNick and Jill have been members of Slow Food for almost ten years and have developed relationships with many local producers, running taste education workshops, farm visits, culinary demonstrations and themed dinners and lunches.

Nick has been involved in a number of regional food and wine initiatives and is cheese judge for the RAS and ASCA as well as regional shows.

About six months ago, after a request from some top Sydney chefs sparked the idea, Jill and Nick began operating guided, self-drive tours to visit artisan producers in the region. It has turned out to be the ideal way for these producers to talk about their ventures, provide tastings and samples, and offer their products for purchase.

The diverse range of products available from the local artisan producers includes real free range eggs, luscious berries, exotic mushrooms, artisan cheeses, meats and organic vegetables. Nick and Jill have designed these unique tours to bypass the regular tourist bus trails thus providing a unique experience.

Full day or half-day tours are available by arrangement. Custom tailored tours on request.

As tours vary, directions and maps (if needed) are provided upon confirmation of bookings.
Culinary Tours, specialising in tours to Artisan producers of such items as exotic mushrooms, artisan cheeses, berries, real free range eggs and more.
